How it’s made
Every answer names its source.
The Lake Quiz is 76 multiple-choice questions about Lake Erie and Cleveland’s waterfront, drafted for WeldonPC.com with AI-assisted writing. Each one is written from a named source, and that source is linked under the answer so you can check it yourself.
The rules we write by
- Every question is written from a named source, and that source is linked under the answer. The full list is on the sources page.
- We prefer public bodies and reference works: the U.S. EPA, NOAA, the National Park Service, USGS, the Encyclopedia of Cleveland History. Some questions use Wikipedia or news reports where they are the clearest public record; they are labelled as such.
- When sources disagree (a lighthouse’s exact year, how many died in a wreck), we leave the disputed number out or say “about”.
- Wrong answers are clearly wrong, not trick questions.
- No politics, no questions about what places should be called, no news.
The Lake Five
Each day at midnight in Cleveland, five questions are picked from the whole bank by a fixed rule, so everyone gets the same five. The picks run in rounds: each round shows every question once, in a fresh order, before any comes back (76 questions, about 15 days a round). Questions added later join from a future day, so a Lake Five that has already been shown never changes.
Quiz-night kits
A kit is just a link: the rounds, the number of questions and a random seed are written into it. The same link always gives the same questions in the same order, so you can build it at home and open it again at the venue. Nothing about your quiz is stored on our server.

About the name
“Gulf of Cleveland” is a nickname for the city’s stretch of Lake Erie. The lake’s official name is Lake Erie. This is an independent quiz, not connected with the City of Cleveland, any government agency, or any museum, park or attraction that appears in a question.
